Barack Obama GPA Attendance Policy
ATTENDANCE
We expect all students to be in classes every day because we value each minute of instructional time. Students are expected to be in their seats by 8:00 a.m.and to have all necessary materials for the day. As attendance and grades are very closely related, it is important to maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.
Some assignments can be made up at home, but class discussions, teacher demonstrations and explanations cannot. Be proud of a good attendance record for it is one of your best “yardsticks” in placing value on your work.
ABSENCES
On the day you are absent; please have your parent/guardian contact the Attendance Office at 323.421.1700 ext 1785. In addition, please bring a note to the Counseling Office upon return. Upon returning to school following any absence, you must bring a note from your parent/guardian stating the reason for your absence and the date(s). If the reason is illness, the note should state the nature of the illness.
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
Parent/Legal Guardian must come into the main office with ID to sign a student out. We highly recommend scheduling appointments for after school. During lunch students may not be available for release. Allow an additional 20 minutes for students in PE classes.
TARDY POLICY
Students should be in their seats when the tardy bell rings at 8:00 am. Plan your arrival to the classroom so that you can sharpen your pencil, socialize, and be in your seats ready to learn before the bell rings. Students are allowed four minutes for each passing period. Tardy sweeps will be scheduled on a regular basis. Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary actions.
